Design Challenge:

The third-floor landing, had generous proportions for a hallway, but without rich architectural elements it was a rather uninspired and bland pass-through space.  We wanted to design a space that was warm, welcoming, and inspirational for showhouse tour goers, as well as a perfect backdrop for future wedding portraits so that the homeowner would need to make minimal changes to the landing’s décor.

Designed Solution:

The gorgeous, quintessentially urban, wedding portrait’s unapologetically romantic vibe inspired the design of this space.  And what is the color of romance?  Vibrant red, in this case, as in the backdrop wall color (Benjamin Moore Heritage Red).

The console table base and ceiling light’s series of intertwined rings echoes the theme of love and marriage by recalling wedding rings. We teamed with a talented local floral artist to co-design the beautiful bloom arrangements on the console table in keeping with all things wedding-related.

To keep the space fresh, we added some more clean and modern elements, such as the brass and Lucite buffet lamps, the updated textured damask chair upholstery fabric, and of course, the wool and viscose area rug that incorporates all the colors in the space.  (When we posted images of the area rug on Instagram, its vibrancy lead to people inquiring about how to purchase this modern “painting.”)
