Kitchen Remodel Survival Skills: Temporary Kitchen
The best way to minimize the inconvenience of not having a kitchen during your Kitchen Remodeling project is to prepare a temporary kitchenette out of the way from the contractors working to bring your new kitchen into being.
Pick a space well away from the construction area, ideally on another floor. This space should be adjacent to a bathroom or utility sink for access to water. Here are some items to include in this temporary kitchen space:
- Portable microwave
- Table (as “countertop” space)
- Portable toaster oven
- Coffee maker
- Small (cube or apartment size) refrigerator
- Paper plates and plastic utensils (to avoid washing dirty dishes)
Also, weather permitting, use your outdoor grill to prepare as many meals as possible.
